Mi Sueno Agate Specimens
The specimens below are from El Rancho Agua Nueva, about fifty kilometers north of Ciudad Chihuahua. The first two years I assisted Gene Mueller with his mining operation on the Rancho Agua Nueva we were at the Mi Sueno Claim, ‘my dream’ in Spanish’, and it had taken Gene many years to make his dream of mining there a reality. These specimens are from those first two seasons of mining which began in 1997. I believe Gene mined there once again and I don’t think it has been mined since. The agate from the ‘Mi Sueno’ claim occurs in veins or ledges in soft pinks and lavenders, often surrouded by red, orange or gold moss agate. There were areas of fortification, lots of tubes, pockets of stalactites, and a lot more. Cabinet specimens from this major deposit are not common.
