Dryhead Agate Slabs
Dryhead agates are from Southern Montana near the Wyoming border in Carbon County. Last mined in 1999, Dryheads are among the finest banded agates in the United States and are represented in major collections around the world. The area was called Dryhead because there was a cliff nearby where Native Americans hunted buffalos by stampeding them over the edge. When butchered the heads were piled up and the sight gave the place its name.
