Fancy Bruneau Jasper Slabs
In the bottom of the Bruneau Canyon was a small hill that due to its unusual geology was named 'Shale Rock Hill'. This area alone produced the material known as 'Fancy Bruneau' which is characterized by dark greens, browns and even black body colors with orbs that are most often a greenish tan. This area also produced pure black nodules which I pestered Gene Anthis to save for me. I have about thirty pounds of this material, the finest pure black lapidary material I know. When I came across this unusual material I bought it and kept it because I 'fancied' it. Shale Rock Hill has apparently been mined out of existence although I have never been to the Canyon myself.
